Hewlett-Packard (HP) is an American company founded in 1939 by Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard. It started as a garage business in Palo Alto, California. The company’s first product was an audio oscillator used in sound systems and test equipment. In the 1940s and 1950s, HP expanded into other products, such as test and measurement equipment, analog and digital instruments, and computers. In the 1960s, HP also began to focus on the development of printers and peripherals. HP was one of the first companies to introduce inkjet and laser printers and grew to become one of the largest suppliers of printers in the world. In the 2000s, HP expanded further into other products and services, such as servers, storage, networking equipment, software, and IT services. In 2015, HP was split into two independent companies, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and HP Inc. HP Inc is focused on the consumer market, and HP Enterprise is focused on the business market. At 2021 HP Inc market value was around $26 billion USD and Hewlett Packard Enterprise market value was around $28 billion USD.
