This guide will help you step by step to get your laptop ready for use.
By following these simple steps, you can ensure that your laptop is set up correctly and ready for all of your daily tasks.
Let’s get started!
Step 1: Charge the Laptop
- Connect the power adapter to your laptop.
- Charge the laptop for at least 4 hours before using it for the first time.
This will ensure that the battery is fully charged and conditioned.
Step 2: Choose your Region
- Turn on your laptop.
- Choose your region from the list (1) and click Yes (2).
This setting helps configure the correct time zone, language, and regional settings.
Step 3: Choose your Keyboard Layout
- Select your keyboard layout (3).
For example, users in the United States usually use the format United States International. - Click Yes (4) to confirm.
Step 4: Add a Second Keyboard Layout (Optional)
- You can add an additional keyboard layout if needed.
This is useful if you often type in a different language. - If you don’t need it, click Skip (5).
Step 5: Connect to your Wi-Fi network
- Select your Wi-Fi network from the list and enter your password (6).
- If you prefer to set up an offline account, you can click Next (7) without connecting to Wi-Fi.
Step 6: Read and Accept the User Agreement
- Please read the Microsoft User Agreement carefully.
- Click Accept (8) to continue.
Step 7: Give your device a name
- Enter a name for your laptop (9).
This will help you identify your device on networks and when sharing files. - Choose a name that is easy to remember, for example, “MyLaptop” or “Work Laptop”.
- Click Next (10) to continue.
Step 8: Sign in with your Microsoft account
- Enter your Microsoft account email address (11)
- If you don’t have a Microsoft account, you can create one or opt for an offline account.
- Click Next (12) to continue.
Step 9: Sign in with your Microsoft account
- Enter your password (13).
- Click Sign Up (14) to continue.
Step 10: Create a PIN
- Click Create PIN (15).
Step 11: Enter PIN code
- Please enter a numeric PIN (16).
This PIN code is used to log in to your laptop. - Then click OK (17).
Step 12: Configure Windows Settings
- Windows presents several settings that you can configure, such as privacy settings and Location Services.
- Answer these settings with Yes or No and click Accept (18,19) to confirm.
Step 13: Finalize the Installation
- Congratulations!
Your laptop is now ready to use. - If you’re not already connected to Wi-Fi, you can do so now by clicking on the Wi-Fi icon in the taskbar.
